More expensive, yes - but entirely worth it.

If you can, do it - don't even think twice. This stops being an excursion and becomes a proper holiday. No rushing, no waiting, everything is arranged around you. We swam as long as we liked and stopped wherever looked beautiful. An absolute delight. Yes, the price is higher, but for this level of comfort it's completely fair.

Ras Muhammad is simply the best that the Red Sea has to offer. The corals are pristine, the fish have no fear of people, and the visibility is fantastic. Snorkelling from the reserve's shore is in a different league compared to the hotel beach. The guide swam alongside us, pointing out the most interesting creatures - we spotted a turtle and found an octopus. I brought my own equipment - the right call. One of the best days of the entire trip.

Truly untouched reefs - that is what Ras Muhammad means. The hotel beach doesn't come close. Here you see corals of every shape and size, hundreds of species of fish, all in water of perfect clarity. A turtle swam past me at arm's length - I held my breath so as not to startle it. The guide knows the spot inside out. I bring my own mask and snorkel - it just works better. An absolute must.
